Thanks to Jorge García, Amistad Tour client who traveled with his family to Armenia in March 2024, and who leaves us this nice article about his experience with us.
Welcome to my summary of an unforgettable vacation in Armenia! This trip took us to explore the cultural treasures of this ancient nation while enjoying fun family times. From historical monuments to comical anecdotes, our adventure in Armenia has been an experience to remember.
Our first destination was the capital, Yerevan, which welcomed us with its urban charm and rich history. One of the first stops was the majestic Republic Square, where we marveled at the imposing Fountain of the Twelve Stations and its light show at night. As we explored the cobblestone streets, we came across a group of street musicians who had us dancing to traditional Armenian music, even my uncle joined in with his clumsy but fun moves!
We continue our journey to the Geghard Monastery, an architectural marvel carved into the rock that dates back to the 13th century and is a world heritage site. While we were admiring the intricate carvings and chapels carved into the stone, my nephew decided to do some “exploration” of his own and went into a small cave. He kept us all in suspense until he finally emerged triumphant with a “treasure” rock he had found! Finally it turned out to be a stone of no value but… It’s the intention that counts, right? 😁
We couldn’t miss visiting the iconic Tatev Monastery, accessible via the famous “Tatev Wings”, a cable car that offers panoramic views of the Armenian mountains. As we ascended, my sister couldn’t contain her nerves and grabbed my arm tightly, screaming every time the cable car swayed! But once at the top, we all gasped at the stunning beauty of the monastery and the surrounding landscape.
One of the most memorable experiences was our visit to Lake Sevan, known as the “Pearl of Armenia.” We decided to rent a boat and paddle around the calm waters of the lake. Everything was going well until my brother-in-law, who called himself “captain”, mixed up the oars and we ended up spinning in circles while laughing out loud. It was a scene worthy of a family comedy!
To complete our trip, we explored the city of Dilijan, nicknamed “Armenia’s little Switzerland” for its natural beauty and charming architecture. We got lost among the narrow cobblestone streets, tried delicious Armenian sweets at local bakeries and relaxed in quaint cafes. My mother even ventured to try the traditional Armenian coffee, and her reaction and face to the strong flavor was definitely another memorable moment of the trip hahaha….
Our vacation to Armenia was a perfect combination of cultural exploration and family fun. From ancient wonders to comical anecdotes, each moment will be etched in our memory as an unforgettable treasure. Armenia has definitely left an indelible mark on our hearts and photo albums!
I have to admit that our experience with Amistad Tour has been unbeatable throughout this trip. They organized each of the tours for us and accompanied us at all times. They made us feel safe and calm in each of the destinations. I recommend their services without a doubt.
